Early identification & school improvement

The signs were always there.

Reduce behaviour incidents through earlier identification.

Life Skills GO brings student voice together with attendance, behaviour, engagement, readiness to learn and wellbeing data.

The problem

Behaviour is rarely the beginning of the story.

Schools already hold a great deal of information about their students. The challenge is that it is often dispersed across separate systems and conversations.

A behaviour incident may appear sudden. But the signs leading up to it often existed earlier. The problem is that they lived in different systems, reports and conversations, making the complete picture difficult to see.

Attendance records
Behaviour and incident reports
Wellbeing referrals
Classroom observations
Learning support information
Student surveys
Conversations between staff
Knowledge held by individual staff

Each source tells part of the story.

When those signals remain separated, teams may only see the full pattern after behaviour has escalated, attendance has declined or a student has disengaged.

Life Skills GO helps connect those signals so schools can see earlier, understand more and respond with greater confidence.

It automatically surfaces and visualises emerging patterns, insights and reports, helping school leaders move from reacting to behaviour after escalation to identifying where earlier, more informed support may be needed.

Ryan Doherty

"It's the ones that just sort of went under the radar. They weren't necessarily kids that were displaying negative behaviours. It's those ones that sort of slipped through before Life Skills GO."

Ryan Doherty, Mental Health & Wellbeing Leader, Nichols Point Primary School
Rebecca Challenor

"We were having these conversations, but we're not able to see over time. We felt limited in what we were doing."

Rebecca Challenor, Principal, Prairievale Public School
Nikki Bonus

"Behaviour is often the last language that a student has when they don't yet have the words, safety or confidence to explain what they're experiencing."

Nikki Bonus, Founder and CEO, Life Skills GO
Andrew Pearn

"I honestly believe that you and your team are changing the face of what true education looks like. Actual care and support of children where they are at, providing the tools and data that teachers and leaders need to make true impact. Not just at the coal face with the teachers who support children, but at a strategic level that has the potential for hugely positive implications on the greater education system."

Andrew Pearn, Deputy Principal of Wellbeing, Maronite College of the Holy Family
Better questions

Lift the lid on what may be driving behaviour.

Life Skills GO helps schools look beyond the incident to understand the conditions and patterns surrounding it.

Instead of asking only
"What did this student do?"
Your team can begin asking and answering
  • What may be happening for this student?
  • What changed before the behaviour occurred?
  • Is this an isolated incident or part of an emerging pattern?
  • What information does the classroom teacher, wellbeing team or executive need?
  • Where could earlier support prevent further escalation?
  • Did the intervention work?

This does not remove accountability or replace professional judgement. It gives educators the evidence to make more informed decisions about what a student may need next.

What it connects

From disconnected reports to one connected student story.

Life Skills GO brings together:

Student voice

Give students a safe, consistent and structured way to communicate how they are feeling, why they may be feeling that way and how ready they feel to learn.

Readiness to learn

Help classroom teachers understand how students are arriving before learning begins and identify where regulation or connection may be needed.

Belonging and engagement

See changes that may indicate a student is becoming disconnected from their classroom, relationships or learning.

Attendance information

Understand attendance as part of the wider student story rather than a standalone percentage or retrospective report.

Behaviour information

See incidents alongside the earlier indicators and surrounding context that may help explain what occurred.

Educator observations

Add professional knowledge and classroom observations to the evidence already being surfaced.

The right information to the right person

See earlier. Understand more. Act sooner.

Life Skills GO is designed to help the right people access the right information at the right time.

For classroom teachers

See how students are arriving and where additional connection, regulation or support may be needed before learning begins. Have evidence of the classroom's readiness to learn, so teachers can make informed decisions.

For wellbeing and learning support teams

Identify students and groups earlier, seeing emerging changes without relying entirely on manual referrals or fragmented conversations.

For executive and system leaders

Access consistent, visualised information that supports planning, resource allocation, intervention decisions and the measurement of change over time.

The shift

Move from reactive behaviour management to proactive student support.

The reactive cycle

  1. A behaviour incident occurs.
  2. The incident is recorded.
  3. Staff gather information from multiple sources.
  4. Meetings and follow-up are organised.
  5. The school responds after escalation.
  6. The same pattern may occur again before the underlying need is understood.

A more proactive approach

  1. Students have a consistent way to communicate.
  2. Early changes are surfaced and visualised.
  3. Student voice is considered alongside other school information.
  4. The right team members receive relevant insight.
  5. Staff can explore emerging patterns earlier.
  6. Support can be better informed, targeted and monitored.

The purpose is not to predict behaviour or label students. It is to help schools notice what may otherwise remain invisible until a student's behaviour becomes louder.

Upstream indicators

Reducing behaviour incidents begins before the incident.

Behaviour reduction strategies often focus on what happens at the point of escalation. Earlier identification allows schools to look further upstream.

Belonging

Does the student feel seen, safe, heard and connected?

Engagement

Are they participating, relating and connecting with learning?

Readiness

Are they emotionally and cognitively ready to learn today?

Attendance

Are patterns of absence, lateness or avoidance beginning to emerge?

Behaviour

What might the behaviour be communicating about regulation, connection, safety, unmet need or disengagement?

When these indicators can be considered together, schools are better placed to move from assumptions and isolated incidents towards informed, evidence-led action.

Stephanie Giles

"We saw a significant reduction in disruptive behaviour across the school, and an 80% drop in suspensions."

Stephanie Giles, Deputy Principal, Guildford West Public School
Belonging

Strengthen belonging before disengagement grows.

Behaviour, attendance and learning do not exist separately from belonging. When students do not feel seen, valued or connected, they may withdraw, avoid learning, disengage or communicate their distress through behaviour.

Life Skills GO helps schools make belonging visible as an important indicator rather than treating it as an abstract aspiration.

Schools can use the information to explore:

  • which students may feel disconnected
  • where belonging differs across cohorts or year levels
  • whether engagement is changing over time
  • how students are arriving emotionally
  • where classroom or whole-school support may be needed
  • whether an intervention is leading to measurable improvement

The pathway to attainment begins earlier

Belonging → Engagement → Attendance → Attainment

Attainment is the outcome. Belonging is where it starts.

Staff workload

Support staff wellbeing by reducing the burden of reactive work.

Behaviour incidents affect more than the student involved. They can require:

  • classroom disruption and recovery
  • repeated incident documentation
  • manual investigation across different systems
  • staff meetings and case discussions
  • communication with families
  • wellbeing and learning support referrals
  • executive follow-up
  • timetable and resource changes
  • emotional labour from teachers and support staff

Life Skills GO is designed to reduce duplicated investigation and make relevant information easier to access. This helps staff spend less time piecing together what happened and more time deciding what support should happen next.

It does not replace educators. It supports their judgement with connected evidence.

In their words

What school leaders say

Claudia Bou-Melhem

"Life Skills GO has given us the opportunity to reframe the way we understand what belonging, engagement and wellbeing looks like for our students."

"The best part of it is it's so quick. It's quick, and it's short. It doesn't take away time from teaching. But the value it adds for something so small, about just knowing how my students are in real time as well as longitudinally, has been invaluable for us."

Claudia Bou-Melhem, Director of Wellbeing and Engagement, Maronite College of the Holy Family
Stephanie Giles

"It's quick, it's seamless, and the way our teachers are using it, they actually come to me and want to unpack the data. I think that is powerful."

Stephanie Giles, Deputy Principal, Guildford West Public School
20 minutes

In 20 minutes, you will see the students your current reports cannot show you.

This is not a generic platform presentation. Bring one current priority, whether that is suspensions, attendance, engagement or a cohort you are concerned about, and we will build the conversation around it.

1

Where your visibility stops today

We will map what your existing attendance, behaviour and wellbeing reports can and cannot tell you, and name the gap where students go unnoticed.

2

What earlier identification looks like

We will walk through the real signals that appear in the weeks before an incident, and show you exactly where and when your team would have seen them.

3

What it takes to run it next term

Implementation, integration with your existing systems, who needs access to what, staff time required and cost. Clear answers, in the meeting.

And if it is not the right fit, we will say so.

Twenty minutes, no obligation, no follow-up sequence you did not ask for. If Life Skills GO is not right for your school this year, you will leave the conversation knowing that, and knowing why.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Life Skills GO simply a wellbeing platform?

No. Wellbeing is one of the indicators Life Skills GO uses to help schools understand what may be affecting attendance, behaviour, engagement, belonging and learning. Life Skills GO is an early identification, engagement, learning and school improvement platform.

Does the platform predict student behaviour?

No. Life Skills GO does not claim to predict behaviour or make automated decisions about students. It surfaces and visualises relevant information so educators can identify changes, explore patterns and apply their own professional judgement.

Does it replace teacher or wellbeing-team judgement?

No. The purpose is to add evidence to professional judgement, not replace it. Educators retain responsibility for understanding context and deciding what action is appropriate.

Stephanie Giles

"It's a really easy way to have solid evidence, to back up what we're saying, backing up our observations. And sometimes it's actually contrary to what our observations are, and I think that's really powerful."

Stephanie Giles, Deputy Principal, Guildford West Public School
Will this create additional administration?

Life Skills GO is designed to reduce manual investigation, duplicated reporting and the need to search across disconnected information. Life Skills GO surfaces the data, insights and reports, so your staff do not have to be data analysts to see the full picture of what is happening.

Can different staff see different information?

Yes. Information is structured so the people in different roles receive the insight relevant to their responsibilities. A classroom teacher, wellbeing lead, learning support teacher and principal do not need the same view.

Can it support whole-school improvement?

Yes. In addition to individual and classroom insight, Life Skills GO supports cohort and whole-school reporting, trend identification, planning and the measurement of change over time, as well as offering evidence-based, curriculum-aligned, trauma-informed resources.

Is Life Skills GO Australian-built?

Yes. Life Skills GO is Australian-built and has been developed over nine years in partnership and co-design with more than 1,000 schools.

The incident may be visible today.

The signs may have been present much earlier.

Give your teachers, wellbeing teams and leaders a clearer way to see the information already developing across your school.

  • Isolated incidents → Connected patterns
  • Retrospective reporting → Earlier insight
  • Assumptions → Informed professional judgement
  • Duplicated investigation → Accessible evidence
  • Reactive behaviour management → Proactive support
